Outdoor venues return to normal this summer

Large outdoor venues like sports stadiums, amphitheatres and racetracks have announced their plans to reopen at full or almost full capacity in the coming months. In many cases, these businesses provide special seating for vaccinated attendees as an incentive to receive the free COVID vaccine, usually with less mandated social spacing and no mask requirement. In some states, social distancing is still legally required for customers.

People who are not yet eligible for the COVID vaccine are allowed to be seated alongside a fully vaccinated adult. However, in many places, to be seated in an unvaccinated section, attendees will have to provide proof of vaccination, through digital application or paper form.

50% of adult Americans are now vaccinated, with almost 300 million of the doses already having been administered. Additionally, companies like Pfizer and Moderna have announced in the past few weeks that their vaccines are safe in children in teenagers ages 12-17. This has caused a massive increase in vaccinated teenagers, leading schools in many states to ease up on mask and social distancing rules.

Many businesses or agencies are offering other incentives to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. In New York, vaccinated individuals receive a free ticket to a Yankees or Mets game. Maryland has offered a $100 prize for the vaccine, and New Jersey has offered free beer courtesy of participating breweries.
