My Dream Car - Kanna Pasunuri

In high school getting to drive to school and being able to leave during lunch is always a cool ability. However, I wont even be able to get my probationary license until the middle of my senior year. I have always had a huge obsession with cars and have always wanted to drive. My parents always tell me that there's no rush you'll get to drive for the rest of your life. They've always been really simple when it comes to choosing cars. I have always had an obsession for fast cars and a need for speed but my parents always preferred reliable and practical cars. My uncle on the other hand has also always had a need for speed similar to me and would buy used or classic cars and repair/improve them. I remember being in third grade and my uncle came to pick me up in his Mustang Boss 302. He always was a fan of American Muscle cars.

My tastes however are a lot simpler. Even though I love the roar of the v8s and the designs of the classic muscle cars, ever since 5th grade, I have become more of an electric car person. It all started when my Uncle's friend took me for a ride in his 2014 Tesla Model S. At the time the car did not have autopilot but it still felt like a super high tech car. They had these super cool door handles that would tuck into the body to offer a clean look down the side. I thought the door handles where the coolest part back then. I remember when he floored the car it was extremely responsive. 6 months later he gave me a ride in the car again and I remember autopilot was added. Now the car I already thought was super high tech just became even cooler. To be honest at the time I didn't even really know the car was electric I just thought it was cool because of how high tech it was. After a car show once, I got a ride in a Rolls Royce Phantom and I remember being shown the engine yet the car was super quiet. In fact it was due to the Rolls Royce that I thought the Tesla still had an engine.

Overtime my interest in electric cars kept growing and growing. In truth the main I reason I became so obsessed with electric cars is not because there electric and I’m saving the environment but because of how fast, responsive, and high tech they are. Overtime I started to appreciate the other factors but the main reason I originally fell in love with them is due to there speed and tech features.

Since 5th grade I've gotten to ride in many electric cars yet my favorite has always been the Tesla Model S. However in 2017 Tesla unveiled the prototype second gen Tesla Roadster. The minute they drove it onto stage and displayed the specs I fell in love with it.

The new roadster was supposed to be a revamp of the original Tesla Roadster. The car that started the company. It supposedly could do 0-60 in 1.9 seconds and 0-1/4 mile in 8.88 seconds. The top speed is rumored to be 250+ mph which would make it one of the fastest production cars ever. This car has been my dream car ever since. Most people want a LaFerrari or a Buggati as there dream car however ever since 2017 the Tesla Roadster has been my dream car.
