Unpopular Opinion: Vanilla Ice Cream is the Best Flavor- Ryan McEllen

     Since I was little, my go to ice cream flavor was always vanilla. I have tried all different types and do think some are great, but for me, nothing compares to classic vanilla ice cream. I know this is a very unpopular opinion, as I have gotten a lot of hate for believing vanilla was the best. People always say it is boring and bland, and that other flavors have the same great taste as vanilla, but with even more flavor. But personally, no matter how simple vanilla ice cream is, it never fails to satisfy my taste buds.  

    Vanilla is considered to be one of the top-selling ice cream flavors in the world, so one might think that this means it is one of the more popular and best tasting, While I believe this to be true, every time I have asked someone what their favorite ice cream flavor is, very rarely does someone say vanilla. But these people don't think about all of the advantages and benefits of ordering vanilla rather than cookies and creme or mint chocolate chip. Not only is vanilla creamy, classic, and never disappoints, but it also goes amazing with and enhances the flavor of other desserts. Some of these desserts include pie, cake, brownies, and cookies. I mean who doesn't crave for a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of warm apple pie in the summer?

    This flavor is anything but bland, and never ceases to be delicious. Many times when ordering more unique and fancy ice cream types, the multiple flavors can clash and overpower each other. These flavors can also vary depending on the scoop you get and the toppings you have with the ice cream. Vanilla is a simplistic flavor, where you only taste one thing and nothing ever overpowers it. It can be called a default and safe flavor because of this, but sometimes, safe is better, as it never makes you regret buying it. Also, because of its simplicity and easy to obtain ingredients, vanilla ice cream is much cheaper than its flavor competitions. This is an extra bonus to the delicious taste, as it is rarely overpriced and not worth getting. And because of all of these reasons, I have always felt this way about vanilla and would much rather have a uncomplicated, delicious cone or cup of vanilla than any other ice cream flavor.
