The Importance of Self Care- Katrina Furgeson

We are always taught to take care of our favorite things. We put cases on our phones, download our music so we can't lose it, tend to our pets every need, and do whatever we can to help our friends and family. But, at the end of the day, the only thing that you will always have is yourself, and it is the most important thing to take care of. In a lockdown, many people have lost others very close to them, and even more, are stuck with just themselves. In a time of hardship, it is especially important to look to things you can do for yourself.

Self-care can look completely different for everyone. For some it's a bubble bath and face mask, others like yoga and meditation, some find inner peace in religious or spiritual practice, and some like to exercise. There is no set way to take time for you, as long as it brings you joy, or relaxation, or comfort. My favorite way is to get my nails done when I have an hour and a half to just reflex and do absaloutly nothing. Self-reflection can help you find what you love about yourself, and also what you don't love as much and want to work on.

Reflexion comes in many forms, and can be prayer, manifestation, or even just talking to yourself. All of these things can help you look apon your problems, and search for positive solutions. So light a candle, read a book, go for a walk, or listen to your favorite song, and think of all the joys you already have, and which ones you hope will come soon.
