Sports- Charlie Sandgran

Many kids are introduced to sports at a young age and I was no different. My parents have had a love for sports and it has definitely been past down to me. When I was barely able to walk my parents taught me a saying that when they would say "Yankees" I would smile, clap, and shout "Yay" but when they would say "Red Sox" I would stick my tongue out and spit. They would show this trick to everyone and even today one of my doctors still mentions it every time I see him and it was about 15 years ago.

The three sports I loved to play growing up and still today are baseball, football, and basketball. I was always busy because I would either be playing two different sports at the same time or playing the same sport but on multiple teams. My favorite sport is baseball, but I enjoy playing a pick-up game of anything with friends. I am a competitive person and it shows when I'm on the field or court. I think that the competitiveness is apart of my character and impacts the way I treat school and work both in positive ways. I have always hated losing and strive to do the best I can do. I am thankful for my parents introducing me to sports because of how they have shaped my life.

I don't just love playing sports but also watching them. My favorite teams are the Yankees and Giants. There is something watching a sports game with friends and family that I am not able to put into words. Especially if it is a playoff game and everyone gets excited at the outcome of a play. I also find sports extremely easy to talk about with others and even older family members.

I am looking forward to the next Super Bowl with the Chiefs and Bucs where we can go over our friend's house and watch the game together. I am so grateful that I have been involved with multiple sports from when I was very young and still am today.

  1. I agree with what you said about sports being easy to talk about. You can usually talk sports with anyone at anytime.

  2. I like that trick from when you were little. Mr. Kopp taught our kids all the famous Yankees numbers and he'd say the number and they'd say the player - he loved that! Sports can really be a huge part of a fans' life!
