After learning about the hero journey in class this year, it was hard for me not to recognize those following that path in our world today. Healthcare workers have been on the frontline for it all as they got their "call to action" in March of 2019. Most of us have since adjusted our lives to spend the majority of our time at home while healthcare workers have been doing their best to treat and cure those affected by this disease. This "villain" we call COVID-19 has brought many highs and lows in this past year as our heroes do their best to fight it and try to give us guidance on how to keep it at bay.
These heroes continue to fight through people ignoring quarentine and masses of people getting sick in hopes of ultimately finding an effective cure and eradicating this virus. With new vaccines rolling out in small quantities there is definitely a light at the end of the tunnel as 2020 comes to a close. For now, working from home and doing your part is the only thing those on the outside can hope to do as those on the frontline try to bring us hope. In a time of uncertainty we must continue to support those who make sacrifices and take risks everyday as in a time like this they are most certainly our healthcare heroes.
