The Struggle Is Over - Liam Gallagher

The struggle of being a Mets fan is, hopefully, over. The team was recently purchased by the 30th wealthiest person in the country, Steven Cohen, and there may finally be a light at the end of the tunnel. Cohen is a lifelong Mets fan and has been a minority owner of the team since 2012 but hasn't had the opportunity to buy a majority stake of the team until this past year. The previous owners, the Wilpons,  had owned the Mets since 1980 but were notoriously one of the cheapest ownership groups in the league after being involved in the Bernie Madoff scandal that cost them millions of dollars in 2008. This led to a long and demoralizing twelve years for Mets fans who got glimpses of hope with a couple of world series appearances but nothing more as the team hasn't won the whole thing since 1986. With the recent purchase of the team, though, Mets fans have finally been given some hope as Cohen is now the richest owner in baseball by eleven billion dollars and has vowed to spend his money aggressively.

When making these promises and setting these goals at his opening press conference Cohen also promised to interact with fans and take suggestions on how the team could be improved. This was a completely foreign idea to Mets fans as we were used to the inactive, cheap ownership group of the past who did little to reach out to the fans. Cohen's Twitter account exploded with suggestions from fans providing ideas of all different kinds from new uniforms to lifting lifetime bans on fans from the ballpark. Cohen has already vowed to make many adjustments based on these fan interactions as he says he seeks to create the most enjoyable experience possible. All in all this new regime has provided hope for fans who have been filled with very little of it in recent years as many are now believing that the struggle is finally over.
