I don't know what to write.
I am not a writer.
Writing a story or a blog post without a topic requirement is not easy.
It's like trying to find my way to somewhere new without directions.
It's near impossible.
My strong suit is math.
My strong suit is science.
My strong suit is Russian.
My strong suit is singing.
My strong suit is volleyball.
But it is not English.
Sometimes I wonder how I made it into Honors English
Sometimes I say to myself,
"It's because you try."
"It's because you care about your grades."
Other times I just don't know.
So as I sat at my desk, I said to myself,
"What to write, what to write."
And then I started typing.
I typed about my struggle with knowing what to write.
And as I'm reading over my work right now, I realize,
Maybe writing comes easily to me after all.
My strong suit is math.
My strong suit is science.
My strong suit is Russian.
My strong suit is singing.
My strong suit is volleyball.
And maybe, just maybe,
My strong suit is English.
I really like how at the end you came around to realize that you are a writer because it shows that when you put time into things you can get better and it teaches you to not put a limit on yourself. I think a lot of people define themselves as "good" or "not good" at things and then they never take the time explore and enjoy those things that they don't think they're good at.
ReplyDeleteI also like how through your "struggle' with writing you come to realize that maybe, just maybe, you can do it after all! Creative!
ReplyDeleteThis was really creative. I like that you used your difficulty for coming up with a prompt as your basis for your writing!
ReplyDeleteI really liked how you listed you strong suits twice, it adds a unique touch to the writing. I like how your struggle to find a topic ends up making a great writing piece that shows that you can do it. It is definitely difficult to figure out a topic on the spot.
ReplyDeleteI loved this! I really like how you took your struggles with the assignment and formed your work around it. It's a very good perspective to have and I like the way you reflected at the end and realized that you're a better writer than you thought.
