As we are driving into New York City for our yearly trip the streets that are usually filled with cars are empty. We enter Time Square, an area that would normally be packed with thousands of tourists, bikers, taxi drivers, now looks like a ghosttown. There are no Santas ringing their bells for charity, no ice skating at Rockefeller Center, and the tree that is usually surrounded by hundreds of people is now empty.
As Christmas comes closer and closer I've started to realize that this holiday season is going to be way different, but I've accepted that and I'm making the best of it that I could. This year has been full of so many tough events and has taught people to be grateful for all the time you have. So my family and I decided to make the best out of the situation. Even though we had to wear masks and be extra careful, we still had our yearly Christmas cookie baking contest wigth my grandparents, was able to decorate ginger bread houses with a couple of friends.
Christmas was spemt with only my close family, but if this year has taught me anything it was to be thankful for all the little things in life. You should never take advantage of anything you have in your life and try to make the best out of what is happening even thought it may be hard and different. Due to the plandemic this Christmas season was nothing we ever expected, but we can only hope that in the next couple of months things will get better and that life will be back to normal soon.
It's so unfortunate that there are so many limitations in our upcoming holiday season, the Christmas Spirit just isn't there. Very well written!
ReplyDeleteThis holiday season truly isn't the same. I completely agree that my family's usual traditions are going to be extremely different than usual.
ReplyDeleteSuper good I like that you are still trying to do some traditions though.
ReplyDeleteIt will be a different year, but I do hope that we can all keep some of our favorite traditions.
ReplyDeleteAlso, there is no name on this. Email me for credit.
