The Rebound -Jake Hand

Throughout the world, the COVID-19 virus had caused shutdowns and delays within countries that could not have been imagined. A country that was impacted greatly by the virus was the United States. The virus caused shutdowns throughout the entire country and at one point the entire country was on lockdown. As cases started to drop some states have started to open back up, but how well can the United States recover from the virus.

Although the virus has not been fully eradicated from the United States, there has been a decrease in the number of cases and deaths throughout the country. Many, if not all states have started to reopen and have started rolling again. The recent return of major league sports along with schools reopening are just some examples of how the country is starting the reopen. With the reopening of many places, naturally, it has caused the number of cases to rise, and then seemingly those case numbers fall until another wave breaks out. The United States has begun reopening and starting to rebound from the virus, but how well is it going? Openings of stores, restaurants, schools, and other entertainment or recreational areas are a good start, and as more continue to open this allows for a rebound in the economy. Each state has been impacted differently but there is hope that each state can recover smoothly. The U.S stock market is ending in gains higher than expected and most of the markets are ending in a gain of points. The S&P 500 rose up 11.90 points and the Nasdaq market gained 42.28 points despite the economy shut down. Although other markets have still lost points, it seems as if a rebound is imminent and U.S citizens can hope for the best.

  2. I like how you related a public health issue directly to economics and elaborated on the effects of the virus on the Stock Market. Good job bro.

  3. Hopefully we can keep social distancing while the country begins to open- we can't afford another surge of cases.
