Fox vs CNN (regarding Amy Coney Barrett) - Leah Moore

During this anxious time in America, with the election right around the corner, the Supreme court has received a new Associate Justice. I am here to analyze each perspective (Fox or CNN) on Amy Coney Barretts induction onto the Supreme Court.

Fox News: Trump already chose Barrett successor on appeals court, confirmation possible regardless of the election outcome

This article, written by Tyler Olsen, talks about how Amy Coney Barrett was inducted to the Supreme court. She previously sat on the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, and President Trump has already recommended who he would replace her with. He announced U.S. Attorney Thomas Kirsch to hopefully be Barrett's replacement. Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del adds to the discussion about republicans on the Supreme court, "...many cases, too young, too unqualified and too far right to be allowed to sit peaceably...". He believes there are too many unqualified people on the Supreme court, which needs to change. However, the president is in office until January, having the responsibility to fill that judicial seat.

CNN: Associate Justice Amy Coney Barrett sworn in and greeted with a request to recuse herself in an election case

In this article written by Ariane de Vogue and Chandelis Duster, they take us to the scene inducting Amy Coney Barrett into the Supreme Court by Chief Justice John Roberts. She is the 115 justice on the Supreme Court. Only one judge did not show up for the hearing, and that was Stephen Breyer; he felt unsafe with the public meeting, so he listened from his phone at his own house. The Senate voted in Barrett, 52-48, giving the republican party a 6-3 ratio for judges. Finally, a handful of lawyers from Pennsylvania handed in a petition that stated, "... asking Barrett to recuse herself from an election-related case". She has made no commitments or statements saying she will or will not participate in the recusal request.
