I would say that at least 90% of English speakers have heard the song Drivers License. That song spread like wildfire at the beginning of this year. She has an incredible voice and beautiful songwriting, but that alien does not make a number 1 hit. With the new release of her debut album Sour, her marketing is killing it.
Her new songs are all over Tik Tok and the radio. She has perfectly captured teenage angst and knows exactly what her market is. Many older artists aren't great at connecting supper well with younger audiences. Olivia connected with Gen Z perfectly. Her mech is incredible. A lot of people plaster their face and name all over the things they sell, but she kept hers more subtle and wearable.
She also collabed with Sour Patch Kids and created special edition candies. Along with that, she ran a car wash in LA where she met her fans. All of this is super creative and something that people would want to post on social media.
The content of her songs also made them really popular. She was in a relationship with one of her coworkers from High School Musical The Musical The Series. They got in a kind of public break up and most of her audience knew about it. Most of the album is about him and because people know what the songs are about, they love them even more.
I agree! She has a killer marketing team and it's why her songs and her debut album are doing so well.
