The Best Summer Sport-Charlie Sandgran

Last summer was one I wish to forget in many ways as we were limited in things we could do due to the quarantine and unknown details of Covid 19. However one exciting thing that occurred last year was my family got a boat. I had gone on my friends boats in the past at both Lake Mohawk and Culver's Lake, and had learned how to wakeboard. I have snowboarded and surfed for about half my life, and although the foundation is similar it takes a little bit to get used to. The main difference is that you are attached to the boat and don't have the freedom to travel anywhere you want, because the boat guides you where to go.

 

After wakeboarding for an entire summer last year, I cant wait to get back on the water and tryout new tricks. My goal for this year is to be able to land a 180 and possibly a 360. It'll definitely be challenging but I think I'll be able to do it. Also since I turned 16 earlier this year I can get my boating license and then I'll be able to take my friends out on the boat which would be a lot of fun. 

One of my friends got a new boat that is meant for wake surfing. What makes the boat so special is that it can add about 2000 pounds of weight so that it creates a bigger wake. Then when you go wake surfing you don't even need to hold on to the rope because the wave pushes you and it feels like you are actually surfing. I have really enjoyed learning how to do this and hopefully I'll get to go back out on his boat a couple times this summer.

Although I love to go wake surfing on my friend's boat I think the best summer sport is wakeboarding because there is nothing that can replace the feeling of jumping over the wake. If you ever get the chance to try one of these sports I highly recommend it.
