The second school is out, summer vacation begins. But with 2 1/2 months of vacation, you're bound to run out of things to do. Many people's go-to is the beach. I love the beach as much as the next guy, but there are only so many times you can lay on the sand before it's no longer fun. Here are 10 things to do this summer when you've gotten burnt one too many times.
10. Go to a Drive-In Movie
Drive-in movies are always fun, especially when you go with friends. There's a drive-in theater in Warwick, New York, which is only about 20 miles from Sparta!
9. Go to the Outlets
Going shopping is something many love to do all year round, but why not do it in the summer when you can shop outside? Outlets tend to have great deals, and you can walk outside from store to store!
8. Go to a Concert
Who doesn't love a good concert! There's always someone touring, and even if that person isn't necessarily you favorite singer, concerts are still a blast!
7. Have a Do-Nothing Day
Everyone's so busy all year round, so sometimes you just need a day to sleep in, sit around and well, do nothing. Take a break from the chaos this summer, and just stay home for a day or two.
6. Join a Summer Leauge
For those of you which number 7 won't work for, do the exact opposite and join a summer sports team. Sports such as volleyball, basketball, baseball, and more have summer leauges nearby. Join one to stay busy with practices and games all summer long. Maybe you can even get some friends to join!
5. Go on a Hike
Why not embrace nature and go on a hike? We have a ton of beautiful places to hike in Sparta, and a cool summer day is the perfect time to check them out.
4. See a Baseball Game
Who doesn't love baseball? It's America's favorite passtime for a reason, and we have the Mets and the Yankees nearby!
3. Go Camping
If you're looking to enjoy nature a little longer than a hike allows, camping is a great option. You can sit by the fire pit and roast marshmallows, or just sit and enjoy the forest. Either way, camping is a fun way to go!
2. Go to the Zoo
If you go to a Zoo that takes proper care of their animals, it's nice to walk around and look at all the exhibits. Especially the exotic ones; where else can you see a lion or alligator or monkey!
1. Go to an Amusement Park
Amusement Parks are a summer staple, and a darn good one! Six Flags Great Adventure is right here in New Jersey, and they have a vast selection of roller coasters and other rides to choose from. They're even opening a brand new roller coaster called the Jersey Devil Coaster this year!
There's clearly plenty to do this summer, so find something different to do each and every day. Summer isn't that long, so take advantage of the little time you have and go out and do something fun! If you have any other ideas for summer fun, feel free to put them in the comments below. There's certainly more to do than just these 10 things!
I can't wait for the carefree summer days!
ReplyDeleteI agree, sometimes you need something different to do. I also can't wait for summer!
