There are only a handful of shows that have been on TV for 15+ years and still get amazing ratings. The Simpsons, Law and Order SVU, Family Guy, and of course, Grey's Anatomy. Grey's Anatomy is the longest-running medical show ever. With the 17th season still airing, and almost 400 episodes Grey's Anatomy is hands down the best show to ever be on TV. Not only is Grey's Anatomy very popular among many people, but they also have two spinoff shows. Private Practice which had 6 seasons, and Station 19 which is on its 4th season. Grey's Anatomy has well-rounded characters, unique and interesting storylines, amazing actors and actresses, and teaches all lessons, and brings out emotions that no other show can do.
Each and every character on Grey's Anatomy whether you love or hate them will teach you a very valuable lesson. There are many characters that come and go throughout the series, and each one has a different unique storyline that makes them who they are. The relationships between the characters also teach you so much. It teaches you the value of friendships, as almost every character needs someone to lean on while they're trying to become a surgeon. It shows you all different relationship types, straight, gay, interracial, and it takes you through each and every relationship whether it is healthy or not. You will fall in love with every character on the show whether it's because of how they look, how they act, or how good of a doctor they are.
Grey's Anatomy is also a show that literally almost every person watching can relate to in one way or another. For teens who are watching, you can relate to the struggles of being young and trying to get into med school, and eventually becoming a doctor. And for adults, the show covers every possible situation that's out there. Grey's covers weddings, divorce, having children, the death of family and friends, the struggles of a recovering addict, PTSD of veterans, all different relationship and friendship problems, and even more. It also includes many different tragedies and real-world problems. Plane crashes, car crashes, bombing, shooting, fires, the problems within the foster system, rape victims, sexual abuse, racism, and now especially the pandemic. Some people say that there's no way all of this can happen in one hospital, but I don't think its really about having the character go through all of this, but rather allowing each and every person watching to connect and their own way and open peoples eyes to everything in the world. Even with all these serious topics, Grey's Anatomy is still a funny, light-hearted show that will make you smile and laugh.
I have rewatched the show probably 3-4 times all the way through, and still, religiously watch the newest episode every Thursday night. Each and every episode will surprise you with something new and want you to keep watching,. Grey's Anatomy is hands down the best show ever, and even if you have doubts I HIGHLY recommend you giving it a shot, you will be hooked after the first episode.
I agree that Grey's Anatomy is the best show ever! They have done an excellent job with current issues along with representation of people of color, different religions, and members of the LBTQ+ community. I felt represented in the tv show, which is not something I can say about all.
