The Matrix, Movie Review -Stephen Matus

Have you ever watched a sci-fi movie and been blown away by the crazy concepts, questioning how someone came up with such a unique and action-packed story? I sure did once I watched the Matrix. This is a sci-fi and action movie that was released in 1999. It was one of the first movies to set a foundation for the imagination that can come when dealing with science fiction films. Science fiction relates to advance sciences that can affect an individual or a society. The Matrix heavily focuses on the sciences of technology and their connection to people.

The movie begins in a virtual world called the Matrix. It is a giant program designed by machines to keep humans stuck in this fantasy world. A man who goes by the name of Neo is in this virtual world, living life as if it were a normal day in 1999. This is until he is confronted by a group of people, humans on the outside of the Matrix, to try and set Neo free. The true year in the real world is believed to be 2199. The leader of this group was a man named Morpheus. Neo faces reality, learning of the giant war against humans and machines that has taken place over the past 500 years. Neo later discovers a connection he has with these machines. He learns to confront and control his new identity, all in the process of saving the people he cares for.

Personally, this film was like no other sci-fi movie I have ever watched. It introduced such an extravagant story that has very similar connections to the real world today. It introduced a certain perspective that showed what life could be like in the future if technology progresses and eventually passes human intellect. The movie was action-packed with fighting scenes that only the Matrix has shown. I was never once bored during the course of the movie as there was always a moment to keep you interested and involved in The Matrix.
To conclude, I rate this movie five out of five stars. The one-of-a-kind concept and constant action and story progression lead me to believe that this is one of the best science fiction films to date. I recommend at least watching the first movie to see if you would be interested in watching science fiction films similar to this. It's a good movie to watch with a group of people. If you are interested in a movie that shows an entirely different perspective on life, based on technology, this is the movie for you.
