Forgotten Lyrics - Olivia Flanz

Nothing is better than finding a song you forgot about. A song that at one point you would play on replay everything single day. Of course, like many other songs, it gets lost in the piles of playlists. Maybe in a year or two, you’ll find it again and somehow it has the same flavor as then. Maybe even more. Only now the lyrics are filled with nostalgia and memories. It’s as if you were transported back to that exact moment you first heard the first lyrics.

I’ve always found it funny how we connect songs to certain memories of our own. Multiple people could listen to the same song and relate it to a different event, a different person, a different feeling. Yet it’s the same song, same chords, same words. Even the artist, who wrote the song, has their own meaning to it; their own story.

Music has been very helpful during quarantine. It’s been a distraction, a stress reliever, and a motivator. If you’re listening to a happy song, there’s no way you can’t be in a good mood, right? Songs that I’ve attached memories to have given me a sense of normalcy. A sense that one-day things will be "normal" again.

  1. It is really crazy how we connect memories to music and so interesting how one song can be interpreted so many different ways!
