Baseball- Jake Hand

Why Baseball is Important to Me

I have been playing baseball for as long as I could remember. Throughout my years of playing sports, baseball has been the sport that I have always loved the most. Between football, soccer, basketball, and baseball, baseball by far has been my favorite throughout my life. Baseball allows me to be myself and play the sport I love with my friends. Both my father and grandfather played baseball and I remember as a kid when I would play catch with my Grandpa in his front yard. I have met so many friends and great coaches throughout my years of playing baseball.
Many people who don't play baseball believe it is very boring or does not require much athleticism. I disagree, I think when you are in the game and focused it can fly by. I also think that hitting a baseball is one of the hardest things to do in a sport. Baseball has taught me many skills, whether it be for my health or to increase my skill but it has also taught me life skills like patience and staying humble. I have played many positions and now I am playing outfield and pitching which might be my favorite duo of positions. I hope that I can play baseball throughout my high school career and maybe even play it in college. It pushes me to work hard every day and gives me something to look forward to.

  1. It's a great game, but it's long, so I do understand how people who never played may think that it's boring.
