     Modern-day heroes appear in more ways than one. It can be people you know, appreciate, care for, but the most important thing is that anyone can become a modern-day hero. In order to start understanding and choosing who your modern-day heroes are, you must understand what it means and what defines one.

    So, what is a modern day hero? Well, the answer is quite simple. It is someone who does something positive for other people. Modern day heroes put other people first. The reason they are called "modern day" heroes is because there are people like this all over the world. The best part is that anyone can become a modern day hero including yourself. All it takes is a single step in the right direction to do something kind for others.

    Now, lets talk about some examples of modern day heroes today. The first example being law enforcement, such as cops, or firemen. These people constantly put their lives on the line to save others. Each time they are in the field, they always put others in front of themselves, this is a true sign of a modern-day hero. Now my modern day hero today would be all the nurses and doctors working around the clock to make this year better for all the sick and wounded. COVID-19 has made a large impact in everyone's lives. There are the less fortunate who managed to obtain this virus. Despite the risk, these nurses and doctors work to keep these people healthy. But these jobs isn't the only thing that defines a modern day hero.

    Even the smallest things for someone can really make their day. Christmas is only two days away and not everyone is able to celebrate this special holiday. But there are people out there doing their best to help these people in need. It can be as simple as giving a present or donations to a homeless person. This deed alone is full of kindness and thoughtfulness. Another could be shoveling your neighbor's snow. 

    In the end, some people don't even realize they're modern day heroes. You could be one without realizing it. It all comes down to the kind of person you want to be. Do you want to be the person who only helps themselves, or the person who goes out of their way to help those in need. If you chose the second option then you are automatically a modern-day hero. So before Christmas, make sure to wish your loved ones or even someone you don't know, a merry Christmas.
