The Human Race By Alecxis Villapando

 The Human Race

Everyone is different.

Some kind and others ignorant.

He made us to be that way

because it would be boring if we all lived in cliche.

Just like our personalities do

The color of everyone’s skin differs too.

But in our society

When Blacks are seen, most have anxiety.

I hate our world of prejudice

It targets certain groups as our nemesis.

And Blacks are not alone

Certain sexes, cultures, and beliefs are also prone

Prone to being stereotyped.

So why is it that straight white men are always hyped?

Was it our history

That created this mystery?

Maybe there is no one to blame

For this specific claim.

I just know that we all need to work together

For things to get better.

Our society, as a whole, needs to accept everyone.

And when equality finally happens, we will have won.

But there shouldn’t even be competition in this case

since we were all always part of one human race.

  2. Why are straight, white men always "hyped?" That's a great question. I truly wish would could all just be one human race. This is a topic that many people can relate to!

  3. I totally agree with everything that was said in this. I also wish that we could be one human race. I hope in the near future that happens. This is a very well written poem that highlights all of the types of discrimination that we need to fix. Great job!

  5. I really liked how you chose to do a poem and I'm usually not a fan of poetry, but yours was amazing. I also liked how you italicized "one" at the end which emphasized the importance of working together as one human race. I hope that one day we can all just live equally with no problems for someone's race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation.
