Today is November 30, 2020, and tomorrow we enter the last month of the year. This year has been a handful with many changes around the world. Of course, there is no denying the unfortunate events such as the COVID-19 pandemic. But this isn't the only change that took place in 2020. Since the year is almost over it is good to reflect on the good and bad of the year. Along with making new goals and predictions for the new year.
Without a doubt the most global event this year was the COVID-19 pandemic. It has affected everyone in one way or another, whether it's jobs, schools, and life in general. The entire world has had to adapt and change to avoid this virus. According to an article written by the AJMC staff, the first signs of this virus appeared on January 9, 2020. At the time almost everyone in the US, including the World Health Organization, had doubts that this would become a global pandemic. It wasn't till February where countries started to take action by adding restrictions and quarantines.
The next major event took place this month, in November. This was the 2020 presidential election. As per every election, it was very competitive between the Democrats and Republicans. But the main event was whether Trump or Biden would become the president of the United States. Days after the election it was finally announced that Biden won after having a total of 306 electoral votes. Even after the election, there is still tension as Trump has filed lawsuits for potential sabotage with the mail ballots.
With the year ending soon, one must imagine what is gonna happen in 2021. With the current information on the COVID-19 pandemic, it is hard for scientists to predict if it will get better or worse in 2020. There are multiple factors that determine how it will play out. This would be a vaccine or people start to gain immunity to the virus. The future is unpredictable but it's best not to lose hope. Each day scientists get closer and closer to a solution.
Hoping 2021 is better for sure!
