Coronavirus Testing From Home
By:Marcella Hill
Recently a lot of people have been getting tested for the coronvairus. In order to get tested they have to drive to certain testing areas within the state that give out coronavirus tests. But now you can just test yourself for the virus at home. With all of our advanced technology Costco announced that they will be selling coronavirus saliva test kits online. It's really true what they say you can get anything at Costco.
The saliva test kit alone costs $129.99, and the kit with the video instructions costs $139.99. The creation of this product was administered by a telemedicine platform AZOVA. This product has also been approved by the FDA. If you buy the $129.99 kit you can expect your results to appear within 24-72 hours and those who buy the more expensive kit can expect their results within 24-48 hours. The benefits of this test is that it doesn't involve a painful nasal swab and you can do it quickly at home. According to Fox News, "On the Costco website, the PCR tests are described as the gold standard testing method with the most accurate sensitivity and specificity currently on the market.” The tests have a 98% rate of accuracy. In order to purchase the kit you need to fill out a health assessment and register for a lab order with AZOVA. All of this can be done through Costco's website. The tests are available for purchase in all states except Pennsylvania, Nevada or Maryland.
In my personal opinion I think this is a great idea by Costco because for people who are scared to leave their homes, they could just test themselves at home in a painless way. It is also a very time efficient way for busy people to take a test. Hopefully this whole pandemic ends quickly and people won't even have to get tested anymore but for now this new product by Costco seems like it could potentially be very beneficial for the American people.

Hopefully this will be helpful and I love your line that "you can really get anything from Costco."
ReplyDeleteThis is super convenient, but I did not expect the kit to be that expensive!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree 100% that "you can really get anything from Costco" is so true. I think is so important to make testing more available, but the price is quite expensive.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of making testing more universally accessible, but this method of testing is way too expensive for a lot of people to be able to afford.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a very smart idea to have COVID tests that people could take at home. Hopefully these tests are effective and will help the pandemic end sooner.
