This year we are starting school in a unique new environment. 50 years ago, the thought about learning through a screen was inconceivable. However here we are in 2020 starting are school year completely virtual. Unlike most people I am really excited for the new school year. This year we get to pave the way for virtual learning. We get to try new stuff and even though they are technological set backs we are constantly learning and adapting to the new changes. Even in the one week of school we have had, their is a significant improvement from the first day till now. The one thing I fear is that when we do go back to in person school we will never have a snow day. One big issue with our new environment is if we lose power are WiFi is down, making it very challenging to be in our virtual classrooms. However, teachers have been very understanding when instances such as these have occurred. Companies such as Microsoft are working on a project that would simulate a VR classroom that works by users wearing virtual reality goggles. This would make virtual school feel more in person and not require us to drive to the physical building. One really big benefit of this new learning environment is that I have been getting a lot more sleep. For in person school I would have to get up really early, get ready, eat breakfast, and catch the bus. Even when we go back to school in person some things will develop and change for the better. This school year will change the education industry and provide many technological advancements and I am very excited to be part of this change!
This is like nothing before, I hope that we still do have snow days because it helps to have those extra days off. Sleeping a little later is pretty nice too, I have to agree with that, it puts less stress on you in the morning.
ReplyDeleteReally cool how you are able to see the positive of being online. And it's true, this year will definitely change how schools work, although hopefully their are still snow days. Plus, being able to get a little more sleep is really nice.
ReplyDelete50 years ago - we could't have done this 10 years ago! So we are actually lucky that this happened now instead of back then. The sleep is an added benefit! I know everyone appreciates that!
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome how optimistic you are! I do hope that virtual learning doesn't last too long, though you made some good points as to why we shouldn't hate on it as much as we currently do. Personally, I also love the extra sleep!
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you're so excited for this year! While I am not as optimistic as you, I definitely agree that its interesting to try something new and do school online! I just hope our snow days don't get taken away for good!
ReplyDeleteI really like your optimism and ability to find the good in the bad! I do hope there are still snow days though. The sleep has been really nice as well!
ReplyDeleteI like your take on how we are the first generation who have done virtual learning. It is crazy to think people will be learning about this time later on, and we lived through it!
